DescriptionColoured postcard with an image of a British soldier depicted leaning on a stone wall and a young seated woman with her chin in her hands in the top right half portion of the image. Below is printed the first verse of the song 'There's a long, long trail (1)' and 'Bamforth copyright, Words by permission of West and Co., Oxford Street, W'. On the reverse is a ½ penny green coloured stamp, franked at Chatham at 10.15 pm on JU 17. Printed on the left hand edge is 'Bamforth and Co., Ltd. Publishers Holmfirth (England) and New York, "Songs" series No. 4924/1, Printed in England'. The message on the postcard is written in pencil and addressed to 'Miss L Mason of Waterloo House, Ipswich', and signed 'A'.
