DescriptionColoured postcard with an image of a British soldier depicted standing next to a moonlit stone wall holding a gun with the bayonet fixed and a young solider and woman in an embrace in the top right half portion of the image. Below is printed the first verse of the song 'There's a long, long trail (2)' and 'Bamforth copyright, Words by permission of West and Co., Oxford Street, W'. On the reverse is a ½ penny green coloured stamp, franked at Chatham at 10.15 pm on 5 JU 17. Printed on the left hand edge is 'Bamforth and Co., Ltd. Publishers Holmfirth (England) and New York, "Songs" series No. 4924/2, Printed in England'. The message on the postcard is written in blue crayon and addressed to 'Miss L Mason of Waterloo House, Ipswich', and signed 'A'.
