DescriptionA still life painting showing an assortment of objects including a portrait of Charles I. There are three rows of objects, kept in place by three brown leather straps. The top row shows (left to right) a knife with a triangular handle, a pair of silver scissors, two newspapers and a quill. The middle row shows a letter to Mr F Peterson, a document sealed with red wax, a white bow and another document sealed with two red wax seals. The bottom row shows a stick of red wax, an oval portrait of Charles I, and a folded piece of white paper with the word Memorie. The painting is attributed to Otto Fredrik Peterson, based on the inscription on the letter in the middle row. However, Peterson specialised in miniatures and enamel paintings. The Charles I miniature on the bottom row might be his, but this may have been a painting produced for him by another artist.
