DescriptionSilver penny of William II, minted AD 1092-1095.The object has been identified as part of the LGBT+ collections as it depicts King William II of England. William was known to have replaced all of his advisors at court with young attractive men. He chose not to marry and had no children, leading to his brother taking the throne after his death. Rumours and propaganda after his death heavily suggested he "practiced sodomy" and promoted men in his court through their "prowess in bed" rather than their expertise.
