DescriptionA pair of wooden shoe lasts, used for making shoes. These were owned by Kazimierz (Johnny) Hurlo, a Polish shoemaker who arrived in Colchester after the Second World War. He had been captured and sent to a Russian labour camp near Finland from which he escaped and walked 2000 miles to Iran. He then joined the Free Polish Navy and was demobbed at the end of the war in Weymouth, England.
