DescriptionA swazzle or swatchel. An instrument to make the puppeteer's voice change to the traditional sound of Mr Punch. This one is partly home made, and uses a piece of a wartime gasmask. This is part of a set of home made Punch and Judy puppets made by Christopher Collins, father of the donor, for a performance on his 4th birthday in 1947/48. It was such a success that he also performed the show for birthday parties of his friends
