hat, top hat

Black beaver felt top hat with cream silk lining which is perished and labelled 'R. Parker Manufacturer, 104 Hackney Road'. In brown leather hat box lined in green printed cotton which is missing its lid. Hat : top hat of beaver (or silk plush?) with black grosgrain ribbon around bottom of crown and fastened with a buckle of black metal (or jet?) decoratively engraved. Brim curls up on each side and is edged with a black grosgrain ribbon. Underside of brim is lined with black wool. Crown inner lining of brown stiffened canvas is visible as the original cream paper and silk lining has collapsed at the sides. Top of inside of crown has cream silk stamped in gold with hat makers label. Box : brown leather hat box oval at the bottom and flaring out at the top with metal plate on the front and metal lock. Lined in glazed and stiffened cotton printed with a striped and diamond pattern over padding with lid missing.
