DescriptionFour piece gold silk wedding dress, consisting of bodice, skirt, apron and neck tie. Circa 1876, also worn by Mrs Hillham on the 50th anniversary of her wedding in 1926. Bodice: gold silk & high neck with imitation blonde lace frill & front fastening of eleven hooks and hand finished eyelets with two bows as decoration & front of bodice is shaped at waist by four darts and has a rounded shape at the bottom with pleated trim & back of bodice is plain to waist where there is a small bow & below waist the bodice divides into large long tails, trimmed with the same pleated fabric and square at the ends & each tail has a patch pocket, edged in cream silk with a bow for decoration & between the tails are three tiered loops of fabric & all lined with cotton & with additional neck tie, to be pinned with brooch? Apron: simple style & straight front goes to curved hem-line at back, trimmed with same pleated fabric & brass hook and eye fastening onto twill band and tape fastening slightly lower down & lined with stiff book muslin. Skirt: straight front, pleated at back onto twill waist band & left front fastening of brass hook and eye & trained at back below bustle & two ties under the skirt for shaping the bustle & pocket at front right side & pleated muslin round hem, stiffened and with braid & lined with stiff muslin
