Grey fine grosgrain silk & stand up collar of light grey silk satin & boned, princess waist & two ruched strips of light grey silk satin run from each shoulder to the hips, ending with a self covered button & centre front fastening of silk covered buttons & full length sleeves & cuffs of ruched pale grey satin on a lace panel, above a pleated frill and two more layers of the same lace & skirt is decorated with two tiers around the thighs above a false pointed apron, each edged with a wide band of the pale satin and a frill of lace & skirt front finishes with four layers of lace and pleated frills & bustle at rear of skirt turns half way down into an overlying tail edged with pale satin and lace & under the flap the rear of the skirt is plain, finishing with six layers of the ground fabric, two lace layers and one band of the pale satin & whole skirt hem edged with a pleated cream sateen cotton frill & skirt is lined with stiffened cotton, with an extra layer of wool for protection at the hem. Additional piece of silk, satin and lace (rosette?), not attached Circa 1875-1880.
