bodice, bodice

Bodice of ivory colour silk taffeta trimmed with gold braid and black lace and ornamental buttons. High neckline trimmed with net, lace and gold braid & sleeves are full length, shaped, and with a tight cuff & cuffs and shoulders trimmed with same as neckline & short waisted, with a band at the waist & centre front fastening of eight button holes and six buttons of gilt with red centres, with two hooks and eyes at the bottom & bodice is boned, two on each side at the front & back of bodice has decorative curved stitching from the shoulders to the centre of the waist & there is a length of gold braid down either side of the fastening. The trimming may have been added later. 1860s-1880s
