DescriptionBodice of pale gold silk with box pleated cream ribbon and fringed braid decoration. Circa 1850s. Pale gold colour silk & low oblong neckline edged with champagne Bedfordshire Maltese lace, champagne box pleated silk ribbon and cream braid & boning at sides and front & centre front opening that fastens with three buttons covered with a hexagonal pattern of cream silk thread, two hook and eyes at the bottom and a hook and stitched loop at the top & opening trimmed with a wider box pleated ribbon and braid & dropped shoulder line & bodice decorated with a wider box pleated ribbon and a fringed braid that goes from centre front waistband , over the shoulders to centre back waistband on each side & elbow length sleeves ending with an unlined open frilled cuff and decorated with box pleated ribbon and bow & sleeves are cotton lined, but for a thin silk band just inside the opening & internal linen waist belt that fastens with two hooks and eyes & linen foundation.
