DescriptionA circular black and bronze metal patch box with a lift off lid. The lid is decorated with a cross shaped pattern of leaves and buds around edge and is dated from around the late 18th century which is when they had started to go out of fashion. They contained decorative patches used to cover scars caused by diseases such as smallpox and syphilis.
