DescriptionGeorgian gentleman's red/brown cord velvet jacket dated around 1775. Part of a suit. With lace cravat. Dark red-brown cord velvet, heavily embroidered in cream, floss silk Barley heads, corn flowers and leaves. High Collar. C.F opening, edges curve out neck to chest and out again towards back hem. 10, one inch, covered embroidered buttons but no corresponding button holes, but centre chest 2 metal hooks and eyes. Cream silk lining. Front, hip flapped pockets heavily embroidered, with three buttons each. Three button on each cuff. Lower back, heavily embroidered. C.B vent and 2 covered buttons topping pleats and two embroidered buttons on the bottom of the pleats. Sleeves: embroidered sleeves shaped at elbows. 4.5inch cuffs with 3 embroidered buttons and white linen lining
