Ladies pelisse of mauve floral printed linen cambric with attached cape. To be worn in the house. 1840-50. Form: centre front opening with fringe edging on right side & round neck with turn down Peter Pan collar and elbow length cape underneath & ties at neck & bell sleeves with gathers at back of elbow & front straight gathered onto a yoke and piped & back bodice smocked at centre above to a high-ish waistline with tie belt attached & waistseam at back only, skirt attached with cartridge pleats to give fullness
