DescriptionA Victorian, rectangular ivory patch box with a panel on the hinged lid containing plaited hair. The hinge and clasp are a gold-coloured metal. The box is lined with sage green velvet and there is a mirror on the inside of the lid which has come unstuck. Patch boxes like these were mostly made during the 18th century and contained patches to cover up scars or accentuate facial features.
