DescriptionA Victorian, rectangular ivory box with a hinged lid. The hinge and clasp are a gold-coloured metal. It has an oval glass panel on the lid showing plaited blonde hair. There is a mirror on the inside of the lid with pink braid trim and it is lined with pink velvet. Being popular in the 18th century, these patch boxes were often given as romantic gestures or gifts and contained decorative face patches.
