DescriptionBoy's brown wool and silk dress. Circa 1860s -1870s. Boy's brown wool-silk blend dress with sewn in faux brown velvet waistcoat. There are six decorative buttons down the front, coat closes at the front with hooks and eyes. Small collar & long sleeves with a turned back cuff in brown velvet with four white decorative buttons. Two small concealed pockets on the brown velvet front. There are slightly ruffled tucks running 3/4 of the way from the collar down past the waist & a decorative cross-over with seven mother of pearl buttons. An attached pleated skirt hangs below. White/cream linen lining inside jacket and sleeves & netting lining the attached skirt. Netting lining also used as an interlining for the body of the jacket and the sleeves.
