DescriptionA blue enamelled patch box with hinged lid and a mirror on the inside. The lid is decorated with a picture of a girl holding a book in front of a tree, with a man peering out from behind the tree. Being popular in the 18th century, these patch boxes were often given as romantic gestures or gifts and contained decorative face patches.
