DescriptionTwo-piece suit, consisting of jacket and trousers. Worsted wool of a grey background with black, red and white woven pin stripes, giving a light brown in appearance over all. By 'Henry Shiell, 741 Romford Road, Manor Park E12'. Worn by Mr Utting. 1938 circa. Jacket: small collar with large lapels, with a button hole in each & sleeves are full length, and have three buttons and four button holes on each cuff & double breasted, with two pairs of buttons (replaced at some point - they do not match cuff and inside buttons) & breast pocket on left side & two flapped hip pockets & breast pocket on inside on right, with maker's label inside and outside & small inside pocket mid way down on left & lined with a rayon twill sateen in grey. Trousers: waist band of 4cm, higher at back and with a divide & six belt loops, two at front, two on sides and two on back & six buttons for braces on inside (one missing) & there are two unpressed pleats either side of front opening & front opening fly of five buttons and flat metal hook and eye & two deep side seam pockets lined with calico, button flapped pocket at back right and one small flapped pocket on front right & two adjustable straps with metal buckles, one each side of waist towards back & turn-ups on bottom of trouser legs & cleaning label stapled on inside of waistband
