DescriptionThis is a Victorian horn comb with fine teeth on one side and a long pointed handle. This comb is included in the Mythical Creatures exhibition. Mermaids were believed to be vain, fixated on their own appearance. This is why they are often depicted with mirrors, combs and brushes. Several tales of mermaids also attempt to explain their vanity and obsession with beauty.
