DescriptionHandstitched thick coarse white cotton nightdress with 11 quarter inch vertical tucks on bodice. Very well stitched and well made. 'S. Maddocks' marked inside. Circa 1912. Nightdress with stand up collar with broderie anglais trim. Centre front opening to just below bust, fastening with wo linen covered buttons. Opening it trimmed with broderie anglais frill. Either side of the opening at the bust are 11 vertical pin tucks. With feather stitch decoration around neck, opening and pin tucks. Nightdress is gathered onto shoulders at front and a yoke at the back. Sleeve shoulder seams are reinforced. Full length sleeves with broderie anglais cuffs and feather stitching.Side seams are stitched selvedge edge to selvedge edge - full width of fabric used.
