DescriptionQueen Victoria's stockings. Pair of cream silk stockings with monogram of crown and VR in openwork at the top. Given to Mrs Wilson, Lady in waiting to Queen Victoria, by whom given to friend Mrs Dobbing, thence to daughter Miss Catherine Dobbing, thence to donor Miss Dowsing. Pair of dark cream very fine silk stockings. Fully fashioned. Leaf shaped clock with an embroidered line running to the toes. Slight change in knit at heels and toes. The top of each stocking has two layers of silk, with a semi circular tab on the outer side. Below this tab, on each stocking, is the letter "M". Just below the two layers of silk, on the top right hand side of each leg, is the monogram 'VR' with a crown above, in openwork. Just below this is number - '8' on one stocking, and '12' on the other stocking.
