DescriptionCharcoal grey pinstripe wool flannel suit, as issued to troops on demobilisation, consisting of jacket and trousers. Worn by Mr Newell. Dated 1945-46. Jacket: charcoal grey pinstripe wool flannel & collar and large revered lapels, with a button hole on both sides & full length sleeves with small overlap at cuffs with three false buttons & double breasted, with three pairs of buttons & inside fastening button & buttons are of a natural/grey colour synthetic material & left breast pocket & two hip pockets at sides with flaps - right pocket has smaller inner pocket & back is plain & one inside breast pocket on right side, with size label - 'Size 40 reg, Code no 19' & lined with navy blue rayon & sleeves are lined with cream cotton with blue stripes. Trousers: charcoal grey pinstripe wool flannel & slightly darker tone than jacket & waist with six buttons for braces & waist fastens centre front with one button and a flap with metal clip & opening fastenings with five buttons & trousers are darted onto waistband & pockets in side seams & one back pocket fastens with one button & 50mm turn-ups at hem.
