DescriptionBlack wool two-piece dress, circa 1911. Jacket with cream silk and lace inserts with orange trim to front fastening neck and sleeves. Bodice boned, V shaped central infill of white silk with a panel of smocking with overlay of black net lace, high neck with snake bones, edged in red velvet. A similar but smaller panel at back. The black portion also edged in red velvet and decorated on one side only with scrolls of black cord, fitted sleeves with six covered buttons. Skirt gored but straight. Back fastening with poppers. Vertical row of seven covered buttons at back and in front, a V shaped inset, laterally with five covered buttons and scrolls of black cord. Black cotton lining, elastic waist.
