DescriptionFine white linen chemise, square neck and crochet around sleeveless armholes, with white ribbon and vertical pleats. Low, wide square neckline & yoke and armholes are made of white cotton crochet, which drops to a vee at centre front & main body of the chemise is decorated under the yoke, at the front, with alternating vertical fine pintucks and feather stitching with french knots & the main body is attached under the yoke at the back with very fine gathers & there is a line of feather stitching under the arms & a fine silk ribbon, possibly faded creamy pink, runs through the lace around the top of the yoke and finishes in a bow at the front & entirely hand sewn. Late 19th century.
