Dress of green silk with black checks and black lace trimming, consisting of bodice and skirt. 1889-1893 circa. Bodice: Green and black checked silk with black lace trim around cuffs and collar & leg-o-mutton sleeves & close fitted bodice with darts to shape and eleven bones & waistcoat points in front & point centre back & lined with printed grey patterned silk & mandarin collar & front fastening of 18 black buttons. Skirt: constructed from seven straight panels darted all round to petersham waistband with two triple pleats at back (to go either side of the bustle) & black lace trim down either side at the front & lined with cotton satin in a dark grey, with paper strengthening around the bottom inside the lining & concealed pocket at the back right side of the bustle pleat. Ink sketch, coloured and attached.
