suit, maternity suit

Royal blue and black wool maternity suit comprising of jacket and skirt. Lined in black synthetic sateen. 1958. Single breasted, with three black plastic buttons & large collar and revers & hip pockets, each concealed with a curved flap edged with black braid ending at the top with a bow & darts run from top of pocket flaps to underarms & lined with black synthetic satin lining & back of jacket has an inverted pleat in the centre & decorative half belt over the pleat at the waist, with a black button at each end. Straight skirt with a single pleat at the back & front panel is cut away either side to the hips and functions as a flap over an inner two panels, fastening either side of the waistband with sliding zips to allow for expanding waistline & the two inner panels are fixed to the back panel either side at the waist and meet in the middle where they are fastened with two set of black tapes (cut off) & originally lined with black synthetic sateen, now no longer remaining.
