DescriptionMan's frock coat with black silk basket buttons and false cuffs. Labelled 'L.J. Alden, Braintree'. Circa 1900. Outer: revered collar with grosgrain facing and one buttonhole either side & full length sleeves with 'false' cuffs created by a line of stitching & double breasted with six woven buttons and six button holes - it can be fastened either way & straight at the front opening & top of back constructed from four panels & split opening from low waist at back to bottom hem, with two buttons at the top. Lining: lined with black cotton/silk mix(?) lining & one inside breast pocket on the left hand side & sleeves are lined with blue striped cotton fabric & each 'tail' has a large internal pocket.
