hat, feather hat

Egg-shaped hat with no brim, curved up around the front and back and lower on each side over the ears. Shape created by a stiffened mesh (buckram?). Hat is covered in feathers which are layered and glued down starting with rust coloured feathers at the top over layer of orange feathers and finishing with yellow feathers around the bottom. Bottom edge curves up inside and is finished with a white petersham ribbon and lined with fawn rayon. 1956
