DescriptionR.A.F Mess jacket and waistcoat, by Gieves, labelled E.T.Scott. For a Group Captain. 1939-1945. RAF blue woolen mess jacket with turn down collar with grosgrain revers, each with a RAF insignia badge. There are also two stitched for the medal bar on the left rever. Full length sleeves wih four bands of gold braid on the cuffs signifying Group Captain. Fastens centre fron with two linked buttons, with six decorative buttons flanking it and with two decorative button holes at bottom in centre. Buttons have a crown above two wings in the centre. Meets at centre back in a vee. Fully lined with cream sateen, quilted at the back. One inside pocket on the left breast. Label in pocket 'GIEVES (Royal Patronage) / L/12/50 83/3749GL / E.T.Scott' RAF blue woollen waistcoat, no collar but with lapels from shoulder seam to low waist fastening. Single breasted with four gilt buttons. Two waist pockets. Back is of ribbed rayon with belt and buckle. Lined with cream sateen lining.
