suit, three-piece suit

Dinner suit, black wool, consisting of jacket, trousers and waistcoat. Labelled Rego. Circa 1928. Jacket: black wool & turn down collar and lapels with revers & lapels faced with black rayon grosgrain & full length sleeves with buttons at cuffs & centre front fastening of two joined buttons and one button hole & two slit pockets on the waist with bound edge openings & internal breast pocket in right side, with bound edges & lining is black rayon grosgrain & pockets and sleeves lined with plain cream cotton sateen & label in inside breast pocket - 'Rego' Waistcoat: black wool front and black rayon(?) grosgrain back & no collar, but with lapels & single breasted, with four buttons to fasten & front openings end in two points & two pockets with facing on front, lined with cream sateen & back has adjustable belt with metal buckle (inscribed 'sword make' by Wilkinson Sword tradmark) & back centre seam & lined with cotton sateen with silver stripes, hand sewn in. Trousers: black wool & 5cm deep waistband with six button for braces & centre front fly with two buttons on waistband and five concealed buttons below & two pleats on each side at front & adjustable band on each side & decorative braiding down outside leg seams, with concealed side pockets & bound back pocket with single button fastening & pockets have cotton lining & waistband lined with white cotton sateen.
