DescriptionTwo piece wedding dress of cream coloured, machine embroidered, voile. Dated about 1909. Bodice and skirt with petticoat. Bodice: Double net high neckline. Celluloid stiffeners on collar Circular yoke of gathered voile onto semi-circular net at front. Short elbow length sleeves, tucked. Net undersleeves to wrist. Whole bodice made on a fine linen foundation so main body gathered and pouched onto it at yoke and front waist and back. Triangular linen waistband for tucking into skirt top. Voile swathing over shoulders to front sides and back ending in a small silk tassel, fastened by buttons. 12 small brass hooks and loops (hand made) fastening centre back (some modern hooks), 7 pairs of fabric covered buttons. Skirt: machine embroidered voile skirt with lace hem lining. Skirt has train. Single cotton petticoat, tucked and frilled. Pocket, with ruched edge, on inside front of petticoat. Modern hook and eye fasteners at waistband. Possible original hook and eyes on waist opening. Belt attachment possibly not originally with this costume.
