DescriptionBodice of green silk damask with decorative fringing and bell shaped sleeves. With matching under bodice and a pair of additional unattached fitted sleeves. No skirt. Circa 1850s/60s. Green silk damask with tiny blue, pink and cream flecks. Deep vee neckline edged with three narrow rows of coloured braid end fringing. Hook and eye front fastening to high waistband. Bell shaped sleeves of the period; shoulder piped. Glazed cotton and green silk lining to bodice and sleeves. 2 boned darts at each side of front. Additional pair of lined, fitted sleeves machine made to match. Separate underbodice of beige sateen with green silk vee shaped piece at front, to act as inset to main bodice. Round, higher neckline, sleeveless. 2 rows of braid to conceal centre front fastening of brass hooks and embroidered eyelet holes.
