DescriptionAn 18th century circular patch box covered with white paper, printed with a blue scroll pattern and labelled 'Pains Transparents'. The box contains seven transparent patches - 1 black, 1 maroon, 1 dark pink, 1 red, 2 fawn and 1 clear. The face patches in these boxes would have been used throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries to cover blemishes or convey the wearers desires by their placement.
