DescriptionTextile commemorating Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee in 1887. Cream cotton with vertical stripes of two designs; one stripe is printed with coloured pictures of Queen Victoria in 1837 and 1887 interspersed with various royal and national symbols, and the other stripe is damask woven with similar imagery. Length of cream cotton fabric with vertical stripes of two different designs. One type of stripe design is printed in red, pink, green, blue and yellow and has alternating pictures of Queen Victoria in 1837 (the year of her Coronation) and in 1887 (the year of the Golden Jubilee). The pictures are interspersed with the Royal Coat of Arms (except Scotland), two crossed flags (one is the Union flag, the other is the Royal Standard of the United Kingdom), floral sprigs, and the national flowers or trees of England (tudor rose), Scotland (thistle), Wales (sessile oak leaf) and Ireland (shamrock). The other type of stripe is damask woven with crowns, 'VR', the national flowers (this time with daffodils for Wales) and '1887'. The two vertical sides are selvedged. The top and bottom edges are cut and fraying.
