DescriptionA copper alloy patera (pan or skillet) in two fragments, the handle and bowl. The handle is decorated with a ram's head terminal and grooves. This particular type of pan with a handle and ram's head are very early and date to AD 0-50 (Eggers Type 154), often found in late Iron Age contexts. These objects were used as saucepans for cooking, but these highly decorated types were considered very high status. It was found in the so called 'warrior's burial' at Stanway.
