DescriptionIron Age cast, copper alloy terret (rein ring) from a horse or chariot harness. The ring of the terret is in the form of two confronting dolphin heads, with engraved eyes and crests, joined between their open mouths. The ring is roughly circular in section. At the base of the ring is a square sectioned shank which is possibly broken. This terret is one of only a very few objects that provide evidence of Boudica's army, which destroyed Colchester in AD 60/1 having been excavated from a Boudican archaeological context.
