DescriptionA Roman flagon (Déchelette 60 type) with a fine off-white fabric and yellow-green glaze. The body is globular in shape, with a pedestalled foot. There is a series of grooves around the body, where the wheel thrown bottom part of the vessel meets the moulded upper half. The shoulder has moulded decoration of running dogs. The pottery is known as central Gaulish lead-glazed wares. This was a foreign import from Gaul, France, which was found in a high status burial, known as the 'Child's Grave'.
