DescriptionTen American slipper limpet shells, Crepidula fornicata. One has a broken shell and one has a slipper limpet fused to its top.Slipper limpets are named because of their shape, the mouth of this sea snail has a flat 'shelf' that make it look like a slipper. They grow in stacks, with one slipper limpets attaching to the next. Their shells wash up regularly on beaches in England and Wales.
