DescriptionFish hook made of moa bone (now extinct) shank with bone barb, secured with two-ply twisted vegetable fibre and coconut fibre along the shank and secured through a hole drilled at the top. Black feathers remain as a lure. A handwritten label bagged together with this hook 'Shell fish hooks from the Islands in the South Sea'. Number marked on hook in black ink '86.NZ' and on the other side, a stuck on label 'Admiral'. This could be a gift from Admiral Page, or possibly the Corder collection.
