DescriptionVessel made of fired clay with a brown glaze. Very large, oval, round-bottomed, open vessel (kuro) with rim. Decoration of depressions around the rim and vertical lines of small incised marks at intevals around the neck. Cracks all over. Loan from Sir Cecil Rodwell GCMG, a British colonial administrator, Governor of Southern Rhodesia, British Guiana, and Fiji (1918-1924). Handwritten note with one of the pots: 'Fijian pottery/Infant Chief's toilet set/presented to Governor Sir Cecil Rodwell/on the birth of his youngest son in Fiji, 1923'.
