DescriptionVessel made of fired clay with a brown glaze with blackened bottom. Formed of one oval chamber with pointed ends (saqa tabua), a single spout in the middle of one side directly opposite. Four arches meet in the middle to form a handle. Decorated with raised dots, incised dashes and vertical dashes. From Sir Cecil Rodwell GCMG, a British colonial administrator, Governor of Southern Rhodesia, British Guiana, and Fiji (1918-1924). Handwritten note with one of the pots: 'Fijian pottery/Infant Chief's toilet set/presented to Governor Sir Cecil Rodwell/on the birth of his youngest son in Fiji, 1923'.
