DescriptionPlain buff coloured postcard with written in pencil 'Mrs Mickleburgh 17, Beck Street, Ipswich, Suffolk' and 'O.H.M.S.' the postmark is for 31 May 1940. On the reverse in pencil is 'Safe in England' written by Harold Robert Mickleburgh to inform his wife he had been evacuated from the beaches at Dunkirk having spent four days on the beaches under heavy enemy fire. He only possessions were cigarettes, a lighter, a tin hat, underpants and a blanket when he was rescued.
