DescriptionAnglo-Saxon gilded copper alloy square-headed brooch, hybrid square headed and florid cruciform type. The square plate itself has small lobes on the corners. Clusters of eyes appear to peer out from the panels on the plate and stem. Hooked silver bird beaks spring from the side of the stem. A rivet on the bow once affixed a disc or stud which is no longer present. One of the lobes on the head of the brooch is broken as is one of the loops on the base of the stem.
