DescriptionThis is the upper part of the skull of a European Brown bear. The skull was excavated from the Brickearth at Ilford, Essex, in the 1970s.Brown bear bones have been found at Roman sites in Britain suggesting they could have been captured in Scotland and Germany and brought to amphitheatres for public entertainment.
