DescriptionMat made from loom-woven vegetable fibre. The shorter ends are fringed and two tassles extend from the longer lengths at intervals. Disintegrating. Tied on label: '1921.93 Fiji'. Collected and donated by Sir Cecil Hunter-Rodwell, Govenor of Fiji and High Commissioner of the Western Pacific 1918-1924. Index card notes it as Fiji, but this mat is likely made in the Santa Cruz Islands, by style. See Index cards for drawings.
