DescriptionNose-flute made of bamboo and decorated in bands of pyro-engraved design of cross-hatching and triangles. Five holes along the length and four holes around the middle. Cracked along its length. Old handwritten label: 'From Mrs R.S. Allen 1922-10' and on reverse 'Flute played with the nose from Fiji Brought over by the Rev Geo. Gill of Mangaia about 1861'. Index card with drawing. This is from Mrs Rosalie Allen, at least some of which was her father's collection, Mr Thomas George Tonge of Ipswich, and previously collected by Rev George Gill.
