DescriptionTwo-dimensional puppet, articulated at elbows and wrists with sticks to quide the movements. Shows a princely character with blue and pink trousers and bracelets, and dark hair styled in a upward curve. Wayang Kulit means shadow theatre. Shadow puppets from Java are often cut from leather, though this one has been cut from cardboard, painted and gilded (source extensions folder). Wayang often tells the stories from the epics Mahabarata and Ramayana, featuring well-known characters such as the five Pandavas and Rama and Sita.
