Descriptionframed and glazed pastel portrait of Nina F Layard FSA by Eleanor M Gribble. Dated 1935.The object has been identified as part of the LGBT+ collections as it depicts Nina Layard. Nina Layard was a notable archaeologist and one of the early pioneers of the profession. She lived with her partner Mary France Outman for many years. Nina was one of the first four women become a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London in the first year of women’s admission and was made a Fellow of the Linnean Society in the second year of women's admission.
