TitleAnne of Denmark (1574–1619), Queen Consort of James I
-
DescriptionHairstyle of c. 1600 In her youth Anne was admired for her white skin and blond hair. She had little to do with the affairs of state, preferring court entertainments and tournaments. She spent large amounts of money on clothes, jewellery and paintings and left large debts at her death. The costume she is shown wearing is in the Scandinavian style, with her upswept hair adorned with jewellery. The hair colour appears more red than blond and was perhaps tinted to reflect Elizabethan fashions.
